SOGEA Maroc and SOMALEV deliver two sulphur storage halls to OCP
Under the SP2M programme, two strategic storage halls at Safi and Mzinda, built by 100% Moroccan teams.
SOGEA Maroc and SOMALEV have completed two solid sulphur storage halls for OCP Group under the SP2M programme: one on the Safi industrial platform, the other on the Mzinda site.
The Mzinda hall holds 100,000 tonnes across 22 vaults with a 37 m inner radius, and the Safi hall 20,000 tonnes. The two sites ran in parallel with two complete teams and two very high capacity crawler cranes, a Liebherr LR 1750/2 SX and a Terex-Demag CC2800.
The teams reached a rate of nearly 1,800 tonnes of precast concrete lifted per week, placed at almost 30 metres. SOGEA Maroc led construction as EPC contractor and SOMALEV handled heavy-lift engineering and erection.
Designed, planned and executed by 100% Moroccan teams, these operations show that the national industrial ecosystem can deliver large-scale industrial projects to the highest quality and safety standards.
